Company History
It was 1954 when Sid Richmon first founded Virginia Elevator Company Inc. located at 1210 East Cary Street in Richmond's Historic Shockoe Slip with just a few customers. In the ensuing years, this locally owned and operated company grew to become a recognized leader in the commercial and residential elevator industry.
As the demand for our elevator services began to increase, Virginia Elevator first moved to 1725 Arlington Road in 1976, and then to our current facilities at 2110 Tomlynn Street in 2001. With a larger staff, office space, expanded storage and equipment areas, we have tripled our labor force and continue to increase our customer base.
Today, Virginia Elevator Company is owned and operated by the founder's son, Robert D. "Bob" Richmon. He like his father, continues to uphold the same business philosophy that was established in 1954; quality products, quality installations, reasonable prices, and above all, customer service for the commercial, industrial and residential markets.
