Local Code Requirements

The Uniform Statewide Building Code references the IBC (International Building Code) which references ASME A17.1. This code requires a routine and periodic inspection to be performed annually with a periodic inspection performed concurrently with a code-required safety test. Every five years a full load safety test is required on traction elevator equipment. These tests must be witnessed by a QEI Certified Inspector. Each jurisdiction is required to enforce and interpret the test results. Sound confusing??? It can be. Virginia Elevator Company, Inc. will be happy to keep your elevator in compliance with all Code requirements.

Please give us a call so we can simplify this process and keep your elevator equipment code compliant.
